Accutane | Week 18

As I sat here choking on my Accutane pill I realized I hadn't done my weekly Accutane post.

Last week and the beginning of this week have been tremendously stressful and unsatisfying.
I have finally written my exam, worked like a dog and slept like a bird.

There definitely is no rest for the wicked.

I'm not sad. I'm just sleepy.

I've had more coffee than food this week which puts my skin at a disadvantage. It is dry, weathered and sallow.

I probably shouldn't complain.

I was so busy last week I forgot to take a double dose on the weekend. Also, my skin care regime has almost completely gone out the window. Next week I will reap the result of neglecting my skin.

Upside this week... overtime pay (obviously after taxes it's a little less of an upside)

Any-hoo, hope your doing well and I pray you haven't forgotten about me.

Tag | Liebster Award

Hey guys,
I was nominated by a couple people for the Liebster Award!

Honestly, I have no idea what it is but I am grateful for being included.
If you ever want me to do a Tag or do a Q&A feel free to ask or message me at blushingappraisal@gmail.com

These are the rules you must follow:
1. You must link back to the person who nominated you - Amber, Elizabeth (elizabethextracts)
2. Write 11 random facts about yourself
3. Answer the 11 questions given by the person who nominated you
4. Tag and nominate 11 people
5. Come up with 11 questions for your nominees to answer
6. No tag backs

1. I hate the gym
2. I wear glasses
3. I have a weird obsession with finding perfect teacups, mug, containers and small appliances
4. I ‘m a Leo
5. I like to bake. Sadly 1 out of 5 things I make come out right
6. I break things. Especially beauty products
7. I think MAC products are only 'okay'
8. I love online-window shopping
9. I always make a mental note to go get a massage and never do it
10. I am a very cluttered person. When I clean I re-evaluate my life, relationships, jobs and my feelings… so cleaning doesn't happen frequently
11. I am currently hungry

1. Who inspires you?
My sister. She is so loving, open and generous. She’s constantly thinking of others and when we need a stern hand she will give you one (figuratively and literally).

2. Who is your favourite blogger?
I rotate monthly who my favourite beauty blogger is… right now it has to be Louise from SprinkleofGlitter. I am coarse, abrupt and feisty  She is bubbly, spontaneous and happy.
She is exactly what I needed to be reading this month.

3. What is your favourite beauty product?
Why do I have to list only one!
It would have to be foundation (this month).
If I had pretty good skin I would choose blush. There I added my second favourite… I’m so sneaky.

4. If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
… Difficult one again… I am either super mellow or crazy. I will choose...  Mi Jesus, Mi Amado (Instrumental version)

5. What object is an absolute must-have?
Phone. Done. Nothing more to say here.

6. What is your favourite book?
I wish I had something intellectually stimulating to add here but I don’t have a favourite. I do like Monster of Florence, The Surgeon, I Know You Really Love Me… and some random romance novels. Honestly I haven’t had time to read recently. Also, I don’t like scary movies but I do enjoy a good scary novel.

7. What is your favourite place in the whole world?
My house. When no one is in it.

8. What was your most embarrassing moment?
It was the time I asked a girl if… no I didn't ask. I said, ‘Oh, you’re pregnant’. It semi-sounded like a question but it was more a statement.

9. How long have you been blogging for?
4 months. Technically I had started a blog back in 2011. Then deleted it. It was mediocre and lame.
Shhhh... don't be mean! I know what you're thinking.

10. What is your favourite movie?
North and South, BBC Production. Yes, it’s 4 hours long and to summarize the movie it’s like pride and prejudice.

11. What is the best thing about blogging?
The people you get to meet.

My questions are pretty boring and have no order.
Here ya go:
1. Are you a home-body or an outdoors lover?
2. Would you prefer a five star hotel or sleep under the stars?
3. What is your favourite number?
4. What is your most popular post?
5. What inspires your writing?
6. Coffee or tea?
7. How do you feel about ageing?
8. What is your favourite lip balm?
9. What designer best reflects your style?
10. What is a beauty secret/tip you swear by?
11. What do you do to relax?

Coveted | Spring and Summer

Hello beautiful.
Spring is upon us… actually in Canada one feels a little confused with the weather. But spring is here and it’s time to start playing with colours, prints and cuts.

You liked that intro didn't you? Dare I say it? I am a colour-virgin. I don’t usually wear bright coloured clothing. I reserve fun colours for my face.

Another tidbit is I usually wear semi-conservative clothes. When I was in my teens I was never allowed to wear bikinis, short-shorts, mini-skirts… God help me if I even contemplated wearing a micro-mini. Basically everything mini was band.

Do I regret this? Sometimes. I never got to wear a bikini when I had a flat stomach.

As I've gotten older dressing conservatively is my safe zone. I don’t mind it and it actually is my defined style.

I wanted to share with you my first inspirational board for this spring/summer:

Stripe Dress With Cut Out Back By Love
Emmy Demi Wedge By Tory Burch
Kelsey Middy Satchel By Tory Burch
Falling Leaf Stud Earrings By Astley Clarke
Moonlight Star Mosaic Bangle By Astley Clarke

Keep in mind it's an inspirational board... these items are a bit pricey.
I have always wanted to buy something for the Astley Clarke website but I am too nervous. What if the duty fees are super high!?

I realize this isn't that conservative but you get the picture.

Accutane | Week 17

So this week I had no breakouts.

My skin has been a little dry and I was extremely emotional. I was crazy. Crying, laughing like a  hyena and giving people the 'you're dead to me' look. My boyfriend was not the recipient this week. The lucky people who had to put up with me were my co-workers. I am so blessed that the group I work with are all my age and for some reason the guys understand my hysterical whims. I can be very crazy sometimes. My skin definitely looks the same as it did two weeks ago. So no special improvement there. Also, the eczema on my arm is almost completely gone. There is discoloration  but there is no dryness.

I am super nervous for this Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is my OACETT exam and Sunday my parents will have their first sit down diner with Steve's parents. I am still unsure whether I should sit my parents down and tell them what they aren't allowed to talk about.
Is censoring your parents bad?
And should I bake something?

Tag | Pet Peeves

LHey Guys. Today I've had a poopy day. So I thought that I should do another Tag.

But first I will tell you about my day. I had to get a new exhaust installed in my Buick Verano. It was making a weird basketball buzzer noise. Sorry guys that's the only way I can describe it. The dealer told me it was a broken baffle in the exhaust.

So, I had been drive around with this annoying noise for 5 days. I know, I’m probably being a snob but when you spend a pretty penny on a new car you get really upset when there are issues like this. Even if you bought one used I think you would be upset if in 4 months it starts making noises. I got my car repaired and I thought it would be nice to buy cupcakes for my team we have been working really hard lately. Turns out that people get really upset if you don’t buy them one. FYI, the cupcakes come in a 6 pack and cost $14. Each individual cupcake is $3.50 plus individual containers $2.50. Case and point, I bought 6. Not 7. This lady got really upset that I didn't get her one, even though she not part of the current project team, and made a huge stupid scene about it. Then a co-worker comes and tells me she was joking.

Joking? She embarrassed me by having a mini-tantrum while I was apologizing and trying to explain why I had only bought 6. She never apologized and later acted like she did nothing wrong.

So that might not seem like a big deal but there are other little things I'm stressed about. One serious stress factor is my OACETT Exam. I'm super nervous and this heightened my feelings about her reaction. I've been getting the usually comments about the exam "It was easy. Don't worry about it." I'm pretty sure they were freaking out before their exam and have now forgotten what it feels like.

Okay, onto my pet peeves.
God help you all this is going to be a long one. I hope I don’t offend anyone. Usually these pet peeves occur at work or at a drive-thru. When they do happen I usually don't say anything.
So here we go!

1.  People who drag their teeth along a fork while eating

2.  When I go through drive-thru and they forget to give me a straw. I’m a challenged person! I'm bound to spill my drink everywhere.

3.  When you’re not given a napkin. Okay, you didn't give me a straw. Now I've had an accident and I can’t clean it up. Grr.

4.  When you tell people you’re scared of spiders and they harass you by catching a spider and flail it in your face. If this happens at work it's harassment.

5.  When you say "I don’t drink" and people make it their mission in life to make you drink.

6.  When waiters leave the dirty dishes from your appetizers on the table. Am I alone on this? If I'm fine dinning there should be no dirty dishes keeping me company while I eat my Filet Mignon.

7.  When fast food places try to be healthier. That’s why I love you because you’re fat, greasy and full of empty love!

8.  People that chew with their mouth open and make horrible sounds.

9.  When people repeat things you just said and make it officially their idea.

10.  When people repeat things 20 times using the same words. It’s like a broken record and all you can do is sit there and wait for it to stop. Make it stop! Tears of blood.

11. When people are selfish and take credit for your work or work you did as a team.

12. When couples make-out... and it's getting to the point it's no longer PG.

13. When employees at boutiques or 'high-end shops' treat you like you're poor. My thoughts on this are "I'm pretty sure I make more than you and I would have made you meet your goal for the day. See ya!"

14. When people are messier than me. I don't know how this is possible!

15. When people chirp, tease or embarrass you in front of others and can't handle it when you do the same. Obviously I only do this if they've done it too me and if it's true. I live by my own set of rules. I will never be mean unless you have done the above statement.

16. People who comment about you calling in sick. Not everyone is made the same. This happens a lot at work because I work with guys. They can be ignorant sometimes, of course you don't want to tell them you're having your worst cramp in forever.

17. I hate it when guys feel like they can express their opinion on your period or emotional imbalance during your period, or other symptoms,  because their wife, girlfriend, sisters or friends have wonderfully light periods.  Yes guys, we are all made the same. All women experience the same symptoms. Congratulations.  You have figured us out. The funny part is when you start to explain your symptoms some of them are too grossed out to hear it. Applause for the ignorant guys out there. And a special hug to the guys that do understand.

18. Women or men who are pushy about me learning to cook. I can cook. I wont show you I can because your being pushy.

19. People with green-thumbs. I hate you. Everything I touch dies.

20. When the Wi-Fi signal dies when you're watching the last couple minutes of your favourite show.

21. People who take their shoes off at work and walk around. I take my shoes off at my desk. If I'm going to walk around I put my shoes on.

22. People who don't use deodorant.

23. People who obviously can't smell the stench that's penetrating the air which is coming from their body. Side note, I have a sensitive nose.

24. People who say their hair doesn't stink when clearly it does.

25. Couples who fight publicly.

26. People who take their partner back, multiple times, after very public fights when you clearly stated you wouldn't. The whole neighborhood heard you. It now becomes an issue when we all have to put up with that show weekly.

27. Nail polish. I hate that it doesn't dry quickly. Last night I changed my nail colour and ran my fingers through my hair after 2 mins. It wasn't completely dry. Honestly, I'm not in the right frame of mind to take it out right now. I will cut my hair off if I try.

28. Church people who live on their soapbox and feel like they are God and can condemn you. FYI, I'm christian. My responsibility is to live as it is written, to love everyone, to talk about God... Not act like God or constantly tell you your wrong. I have done my part. It's up to you.

29. People who take their relationship frustrations out on you. ie. wife or girlfriend spending too much money, their partner not messaging them back... What I mean by this is that they twist what your doing into something their partner did that upset them.

30. My biggest pet peeve of all time. People who twist your words and don't let you finish talking. I have no time for people like that. I cut people like that out of my life intentionally.

31. Along side of that last one is random people who think their opinion should matter to you. Guess what it doesn't.

I think I might add more later.
Happy Valentine's Day.

Accutane | Week 16

I've had a couple minor break outs on my cheeks. It appears that my theory of ‘pimples under the skin which need to surface’ is true. Also, when I went to my doctor he did say that what was growing on my arm is in fact eczema. It is not Dermatophytosis aka Ringworm… You like how last week I didn't call it that. It sounds disgusting so I used the technical name. He prescribed some cream which nuked that puppy within a day. Thoughts concluded from this week… go to the doctor. Putting tea tree oil on it and Vaseline isn't going to fix things as fast as drugs do. This is ironic actually. I don’t like taking medication or prescription drugs. This is probably why my acne and my eczema got so bad. Lately I have been getting more complements on my skin which is of course wonderful!

Bye Beautiful!

Tag | 50 Random Facts About Me

This is a super long post. So buckle up and get comfy.

1. My Knees look like smiley faces…

2. I have a favourite blanket that I sleep with every night. It doesn't matter what season it is. Actually, it’s more the type of material that matters.

3. I really like trying new diets. Some examples are: Vegetarian, Paleo, Vegan, Raw Vegan… and the list goes on. Some shameful ones would be: Cereal Diet, Master Cleanse, Rice Diet, and the Banana Diet. I love food! So my actual diet consists of fine dining and fast food binges. I don’t cook so eating at home is not a regular occurrence.

4. The best part of a pizza should be the crust.

5. My family’s clothes are fair game. I steal their clothes all the time. There’s no shame in it. I like to call it ‘being economical’.

6. I am only fully awake between 5am-7am and 5pm-12am. So whilst at work (8am-5pm)... I’m in a daze.

7. I am currently trying to drink black coffee. It’s so gross!

8. I burned my sister’s butt when she was curling my hair. I left the curler on the bed and she sat on it. She doesn't have a scar but boy was she mad.

10. I eat big meals in the morning and at lunch. I don’t care what people say, getting 5 small meals a day is a sure way of getting yourself in trouble. If I eat small meals my portions slowly start getting bigger. Sometimes I do eat a big meal at dinner. Do I beat myself up about it? Hell no. Eat on!

11. I could eat rice and cheese all day every day.

12. I was born in Alberta.

17. I have never been on a sports team in my life.  If you have watched Lord of the Rings… There's a scene where the dwarf is running slowly behind his companions... Yup, that would be me.

18. I have never been clubbing. It’s just not my scene.

19. I re-re-recorded my January favourites but before I could post the new one I got my first subscriber! So, out of respect I chose not to upload the new one. Which is fine because I was even more mono-toned the new video. I’m so freakin’ happy!

21. My last name and my mom’s maiden name are not Spanish sounding (by the way, I'm Hispanic . I have a little bit of German, English and French in me. So Bounjour and Sehr erfreut. Google - you better not have done that to me! I will cut you. Jkz

22. I got the keratin blowout in December and didn't blog about it. Fail. My reason for getting it was because I don’t have time to do my hair. Oddly enough, doing this does pushes you to straighten/style your hair. At least for me it did.

33. I love collecting hobbies. Hobbies? Yup, I start hobbies and they just never seem to stick. I have so many supplies left from the hobbies I've started.

Appraised | Wet and Wild Shadows No.1

I know that too many people have already done reviews and swatches but I wanted to post some pictures too... :(

As a seasoned eye shadow purchaser I think these are steals! They are creamy to the touch and look lovely on the eye. The only thing to note is that these tend to have a lot of fall out and some have an unnecessary amount of sparkles. I love all the shadows and they are super pigmented.

335 Silent Treatment

380B Walking on Eggshells

334 I'm Getting Sunburned

738 Comfort Zone

These are all the ones I have. In future I will keep my on new any limited edition shadows that come out.
Any-woo, that's it for now!
See you later beautiful.

Accutane | Week 15

I am not one to enjoy pity parties.
Perhaps you might feel that this has nothing to do with acne but, I think this might be beneficial for the young ones in college/university... And frankly I didn't want to make a separate post.

As I have mentioned before I am a graduate of a Civil Engineering Tech program. In the begin of my college career I was excited and even enthusiastic about school and the people getting to meet. As time progressed I started to feel really bitter about my choice to go into Civil Engineering and I started to feel very sad. In my second year I failed a class that was a pre-requisite for the following year. I wont sit here and say that it wasn't my fault but when you are bordering depression you just can't find the energy or motivation to do the simple things.

I often would lay in bed not wanting to get up or face going to school. Nothing horrible had happened to me but I did slip into the action of living just to breath. I was not being a true participant in the world around me.

I never sought help from a doctor, friends or family members because frankly it would have been frowned on. What did I have to complain about? Nothing. I should have been happy... ecstatic for the changes happening in my live.

I don't know what trigger the deep slumber I fell into, nor do I understand what pulled me out. In the winter of 2011 I awoke one morning and felt alive. Like I had truly be awaken. I no longer felt unaffected by people and events.

Sadly, when you do 'wake-up' you realize that your non-action or your neutral being has left you in an infant. I felt left behind. It's like when your pushed forward and lack the ability or proper foundation to learn new material or make the right choice. In my third year I was in a complete haze. I needed to refresh the things that I should have learned.

I have always been an instant gratification person and probably will continue to be that way. School didn't provided me with the gratification I needed. There were always people who were better than me and had more connections then I did.

Try to start motivated. Be hard on yourself. Grab life by the balls and don't let go. Any failures that you experience try to pass them with grace. You will look back, standing on top of a mountain, and see the remains of the distraught person you once were.

It is easier for persons who have gotten to that level of feeling blue to let themselves slip again but strive to be better. If you need to cry... Go ahead, let it out. If you feel you suck at your job... There is always tomorrow. Or if your Accutane/Acne journey feels likes its coming to a halt remind yourself that the journey isn't over. You've just started. You might not have what you expected but your a lot further ahead for trying.

Alright people this is what my skin looks like, and just for fun I am going to overload this post with my face!

As you can tell the pigmentation has improved drastically.

So, I guess I have a doctors appointment today... I will finally be able to show the doctor what the hell is growing on my arm. This week I had three break outs and my eye lids are looking super thin. I am not feeling down but I have lost my 'zest'. So basically, no dressing up, sweat pants all day and no kisses for my bf. What else? My temper has been off the walls. I have also been very forgetful this week.

Side note... You know how in my 'Big, Fat Greek wedding' the dad was a huge fan of Windex? At my house it's Vaseline.  I hadn't even finished showing my parents my arm when they whipped out a huge tube. Got to love parents and their funny quirks.

I will see you soon beautiful.
Keep smiling.
Or 'just keep swimming'
I love you.

Haul | Clarins Spring Collection, Hair and Drug Store Make-up

I purchased a couple products this week and wanted to share them with you!

I got the Keratin Smooth Out/Blow Out treatment done early December. The system that we used was from the company Global Keratin and I was recommended to use their products. When I originally purchased my conditioner and shampoo I purchased the moisturizing conditioner not the balancing one I have now. Honestly I love how light and nourishing they feel on my hair. Each one cost roughly $25 Canadian. If anyone is curious, the Keratin treatment cost around $250 Canadian and it is not like the Brazillian blow out. This is not as harmful and costs less but does not leave you with pin straight hair. It basically de-frizzes your hair.

I went a little crazy at the drug store. The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are a little pricey at $12 a pop. Luckily I got three of them on sale for $6. I probably should have grabbed all the colours available but self control took over.

I have the following colours. Adore and Honey were the first ones I bought and they kick started this obsession.

Some swatches for y'all.... Sadly the above picture does not match the swatches. I fail!
Adore, Honey, Precious, Rendez-Vous, Charm

So I've been having a *you know* of a time finding a good mascara  They all seem to flake and do nothing for my eyelashes. I am usually the last person to jump on band wagons and this is no different. People are always talking about this line of mascaras and boy did I wait forever to buy Maybelline The Falsies Volum'Express.

The last and perhaps the most exciting bits for this week have been to get my hands on two products from Clarins Spring Collection 2013. I bought a Rouge Eclat lipstick, apparently I said it wrong in my video, in the colour 02 Sweet Rose. This is a stunning colour.

I did end up getting a little sampler so I can show you some of the other colours.
01. Nude, 04. Tropical Pink, 06. True Aubergine, 13. Woodrose
The last one is a swatch of the Prodige blush I picked up called 01 Lovely Rose.

What blush...? See below.

So this is what the packaging looks like. You can see that I got into this blush by the state of the mirror. I just couldn't help myself.

Here is a close up. When I was looking at the blushes on-line I wanted to get Miami Pink but it ended up looking to red based in person.

I thought I should show you the different lips colours. I think it's help full to see them on and I wanted to model for you.
My lips are a little pigmented and I know they are weird looking.

01. Nude Rose
02. Sweet Rose

04. Tropical Pink

13. Woodrose

06. True Aubergine

I tried to keep my smile consistent... Do you think I succeeded?
I love the wear and look of these.
I'm tempted to get 04. Topical Pink and 06. True Aubergine.
We will see what the upcoming weeks bring.

Alright people that's it for today.
Chio for now!
