Paper Bag Princess | Working Outside

So today I decided to show you a little of what a Civil Engineering Technologist does.
I started the day by dressing in warm cloths, packed extra socks and mittens.

This is a picture of the highway on our way to the job site.

We were going to be surveying close to channel so we had to wear rubber boots.

This is the site we were going to survey.
That grass you see is actually about 8 feet tall. FYI, I am 5'1".

We were also going to be surveying under a bridge.
You can see my work buddy in orange.

We started by setting up our equipment (Total Station).

Everything was going fine when I was in the bush. I'm not going to lie it was a little scary. My partner wasn't that close by. He wouldn't have been able to save me from a scary animal.

It wasn't till I was under the bridge that I ran into issues.
You can't really see in the picture but water started to fill the holes.

I panicked momentarily and started to sink a little further. My co-worker threw me a couple logs and I was able to step on them and escape.
Close call.
I could have lost a boot, done a face plant in the mud or had to crawl out.

I was super pooped after hauling myself out of the mud. This is why I should work out.

Once we were done I cleaned my boots off and we headed home.

This is a picture of what my house looks like..

Accutane | Week 5

Hi everyone, I am back with an update. This is my first week of upping my dosage and here's what I experienced.

This might be TMI but I have never been one to slather lotions every time I step out of the shower. If I do put anything on it is usually a body oil. Tuesday of this week I did as I usually do, which was to put nothing on (lotion... I know what you were thinking!). Sadly within two hours my skin became unbelievably itchy and dry. Suffice it to say me and Total Moisture Cocoa Radiant had some time alone in the bathroom at work.

The texture of my ears has returned to normal. They are no longer dry and cracking but still itchy and swollen.

My skin has felt overly sensitive, dry and very itchy.

My cheeks get an ashy look by the end of the day so I think I'm might have to switch to a tinted moisturizer soon.

My eyes feel like the Sahara desert. They are barely producing enough tears to keep my lids lubed up. And another complaint my mouth has been super dry and I am still having problems drinking water. I just don't seem to enjoy it. I usually do.

The stomach pains I was experiencing have subsided.

I feel like I should write something positive. As I have mentioned every week I have seen an improvement in my skin. I will begin my saying that I have been a very bad girl when it comes to skin care. I have been using the Reversa cleanser and I have not been washing my face afterward. I did experiences a minor break out on my cheek and in my temple area.

Appraised | Cleansing Micellar Solution, Reversa

Based on my experience with BioDerma Crealine Cleansing water I am not impressed with this cleanser. I am not patient enough to sit and wait for either of these cleansers to remove my eye make-up but I do expect a water based cleanser to take off my face make-up. With this cleanser I need to use a lot of product in order to removed my face make-up. I would not recommend this product. Between the two stick to using BioDerma is more efficient and costs around the same.

Accutane | Week 4

This week was super relaxing. I finally had time for a manicure and got my hair done. I am of the belief that in order for me to function properly I need to treat myself to the finer things in life. If my schedule allowed I would go to the spa every week. Sadly, I just don't have time. I have been getting into a routine when it comes to food. I will try to start posting what I eat daily. I do believe that what you put in your body directly affects how you feel and look.

Anyway, on to Accutane.

This Week
I met with my derm and he like the progress my skin was making. He decided that my liver can take a little more abuse and upped my prescription to 60mg once every day and two 60mg a day for one day. I will begin to increase my pills this week.

My skin looks like its purging. I have not had any flare ups but I do get white heads that heal pretty quickly. The holes are still noticeable but only time will soften the look of them. For those who have had persistent acne your skin can start looking purple in the areas where you constantly have cystic acne. Many believe that the dark areas as scars but if that were the case why do they seem to be fading?

My lips are still chapped but that's not a big deal I will need to invest in a better lip balm. If anyone cares about my ears yes they are dry and starting to peel. Ewww gross. My nose has started to peel too and when I blow my nose I find dry blood.

I had just showered and moisturized. I apologize for the wet dog look.

Will be day with another update soon.

Nothing like getting a professional manicure when you're feeling down.
I chose to get a simple shellac manicure. I might add another colour later but I wanted a nice base.  Tomorrow I will be getting a keratin blow out... apparently it's different from the Brazilian blowout.

When I'm sad or stressed I usually eat.  No more emotional eating here. I will forego the chocolate cake and go shopping instead. Today I bought shoes.

Accutane | Week 3

Hey you. Guess what! I bought a car! Woohoo. I bought the Buick Verano. I am super happy with my purchase. Let’s hope clumsy me doesn't do anything crazy to it. Anyway, lets talk about Accutane.

Oh Accutane why do you hate me. As I have said in the past my Accutane experience has been comfortable. There have been no serious side effects only improvement. This week has been a little different. My stomach has been hurting. Not upset like you’re about to re-visit the Chinese food you ate 3 hours ago but just pure pain. After a couple hours it passes but I will have to bring this up with my derm. Another side effect is that nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, is softening my lips. They are disgustingly chapped. I am amazed that my boyfriend still wants to kiss me. FYI, it is really helpful if you surround yourself with people who are positive and are not mean about your dry skin. I have been blessed with not having to experiences the initial breakout most people experience. I did have a minor (cystic, so still painful but not a huge honker) break out on my cheek but it is healing nicely. I sometimes have eczema flare ups around my ears and it feels like its starting again. Don’t worry I will not put a picture of that. Another random symptom that I have been experiencing is really tender teeth. It does not feel like normal sensitivity but it does feel like my teeth are loose. Crazy. I know.

*One thing that I forgot to mention last week is that all the little pits left from the acne were showing. And I was feeling super down and ugly.

My skin is looking smooth and there are less pink spots on my skin (acne under the skin). A while ago you could see a bunch of pink dots on my cheeks. I assume that they were pimples that hadn’t made it to the surface. Now they are less noticeable and only look pink when I wash my face. I am a bit thorough when facing my face and it helps me to see the true progress of my skin and not assume that the pimples are healed completely. The texture of my skin has improved. The dents/holes are not as deep anymore.
Anyway, I think that’s it for now.

God I need to fix my eyebrows.

About | Current Skin Care

Make-up Removers:
I usually use Bio Derma to remove makeup but I have been trying cheaper alternatives. And let me tell you not all Crealine Waters are the same. I will do a 'My thought' on the different Crealine Waters I have tried. Right now I am using Reversa Cleansing Micellar Solution. Its major selling feature is that it has a pump. I am constantly dropping my skin care bottles and wasting product.

After the Make up remover I follow up with Yonka Cleansing Crème (which is the first cream cleanser I have ever tried and now I am a convert).
On occasion I will use the Neostrata and Biore when I feel I need to deep clean. These are not my favorites for deep cleaning but I am trying to use the products up. One that I have been enjoying lately is the Neutrogena Deep Clean Long-Last Shine Control Cleanser/Mask. I highly recommend it. It has an odd texture. Its like moose with tiny little crystals (shh don't tell my derm).

I prefer to use African Black soap since it is nature. I am going to insert a stock picture since I don't have any at the moment. (I buy mine from
My dermatologist has not yet given me a prescription cleanser but has said I am not allowed to use any cleaners with “acne fighting” ingredients... I will try to follow his instructions but no promises.

I use to have a couple alcohol toners and stopped using them because they stripped by skin. I just started using toners again and I chose to go with the cult favorite Caudalie Toner (I'm a fan).

If I am not mistaken it has some alcohol, but for some reason it doesn't strip my skin. I am in love. I ran out a week ago and the thought on not having it freaked me out. There is another product I use this with that I will mention later.

I have a couple on the go right now. I have the Yonka Crème 11, 15 and 85. I am enjoying them and have found that they do soothe my skin. The only issue I have is that that they are not moisturizing enough for all day wear.

Some others I have:

I am looking to buy an eye cream because I have always had dry flakes under my eyes. Not a lot but it’s still not cute.

I have a sample of Eminence Organic Skin Care Guava & Bamboo Age Defying Moisturizer. What do I think about it? It' okay. Nothing super special.

I have used a couple Shisiedo eye creams but they burned and created more flaking. I do have some fine lines starting but cannot use and currently am not interested in retinols. I have started using Antipodes Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream. Initially I didn't like it but now that I am on Accutane it's perfect.

I have found my HOLY GRAIL serum. All thanks to EssieButton. Will do a review on it later but here it is:

I am not allowed to use because I am on Accutane.
Spot Treatment: This would be the longest list of products I have if I were to categorize my skin care. Anyway, a few weeks ago I had a Yonka facial and the esthetician used Juvenvil. She gave me what was remaining in the capsule and I did find that it help with my acne. It did not react badly with the prescription products.

The list of masks I have would be the shortest of all the categories but I do have quite a few for an average person. I hate using them. And they take too much effort. Most of the masks I have are for acne. An overnight mask that is moisturizing would be great to try.

Accutane | Week 2

Hello again. So this is the end of Week 2 on Accutane. I experienced some pretty horrible migraines. I have no idea if that has anything to do with the Accutane. I feel dehydrated all the time. I have been taking pretty good care of my skin. I have been using Antipodes Avocado and Pear Nourishing Night Crème every night and I have now begun to implement it in the morning. My skin doesn't feel dry at the end of the day unless I am outside.

It has been pretty stressful week at work but I haven’t gotten any stress related breakouts yet. The acne continues to appear flat but I do have 3 pimples that are slightly painful. The pain that I am experiencing is nothing in comparison to before taking Accutane.

I am on my second cycle of Diane 35 and my breasts continue to be tender. If I didn't mention that before and if that is too much information, sorry. But lets keep real. I have read reviews that Diane 35 can make your breasts larger. I have had no such luck.  Hehehe. Personally, I think that the people that experience this are those that have a significant weight gain on the pill. FYI, my cheeks are looking horrible.

Anyway, I will post some new pictures soon. I should do some FOTD's to balance the amount of ugly pics I have been posting.
